Horseback Ride and White Water Kayaking
After meeting your driver and small group at the pier, you will travel along the coast, passing the quaint town of Falmouth on your way to the horseback facility approximately 1 hour away from the port.
You will be greeted by the friendly staff upon arrival at the horseback ride facility, where you will receive a safety briefing before setting out on your ride. Trail Masters will pair you with a horse to match your riding ability, and the ride will be conducted in a single file. Most guests are not experienced riders, so the ride will proceed at a slow and comfortable pace, with a few areas along the trail where the horses may be able to trot. Ride through wooded areas once used by the Taino Indians for hunting, and continue through a natural wetland shaded by almond trees, coconut trees, and other native species.
From here, you will drive to the river where your water adventure begins with a short walk through the rainforest to meet your guide and kayaks at the starting point.
After some instructions from your guide, you and your co-paddler board your kayak and enter the fast-flowing water. The swift currents carry your kayak downstream, challenging you and your partner to paddle confidently through various areas of exciting whitewater rapids and picturesque river pools. You will use teamwork to paddle through the twists and turns of rushing whitewater rapids. The river rapids are rated Class 1 and Class 2 (easy to moderate), and the river flow is rated Class 3 (swift-moving water). Recent weather conditions can affect the river flow and level. Average time on the river is 90 minutes.
The river currents carry your kayak over one final cascade as you pass under an old colonial stone bridge and head towards the Caribbean Sea, where you will paddle your kayak to a private beach. Here you will have approximately 30 minutes of free time to swim, sunbathe, or purchase a refreshment from the beach bar.
Returning to the Montego Bay area, you will have a driving orientation along the "hip strip" of Montego Bay, which is the most popular area with visitors.
