Trail Masters will pair you with a horse to match your riding ability, and then you are off, weaving your way through the countryside. The trail ride meanders down to the north coast shoreline and takes you to a private and beautiful beach area. Here guests will experience the thrill of swimming bareback on the horses in the magnificent Caribbean Sea. The crystal-clear water and soft white sands create the perfect setting for a truly unforgettable ride.
Your Beach Horseback Ride and Swim adventure begins as you are greeted by your driver/tour guide. Upon arrival at the horseback riding facility, you will be welcomed by the eager staff ready to provide an enjoyable and safe experience. Before setting out on your ride, you will receive a thorough safety briefing. Trail master’s will pair you with a horse to match your riding ability, and then you are off, weaving your way through the countryside. The ride will proceed in a single file, ensuring a relaxed and controlled pace, as most riders are not experienced. Along the way, there will be designated areas where the horses can trot briefly.
As you journey through wooded areas once used by the Taino Indians for hunting, you will pass through a natural wetland shaded by almond and coconut trees, as well as other native species. The highlight of this adventure is the once-in-a-lifetime experience of riding a horse through the warm Caribbean waters. The total time spent riding is approximately 70 minutes, including a 10-minute swim session.
Please remember to wear swimwear, water shoes or sneakers, and bring a towel. Swimsuits can be worn under your clothes for convenience. Proper attire includes long pants or shorts that extend just below the knees. While bare legs are not recommended, if you choose to wear shorts above the knee, please bring a towel. The guides will place the towel over your saddle for added comfort and protection. The saddles remain on for the entire ride.
From here, you will drive to the river where your water adventure begins with a short walk through the rainforest to meet your raft at the starting point.
After some instructions from your guide, you and the rest of your co-captains board your raft and enter the fast-flowing water. Rafts hold 6-7 guests depending on weight. With your tour guide steering the raft from the rear, you use teamwork to paddle through the twists and turns of rushing white-water rapids. The river rapids are rated class 1 and class 2 (easy to moderate) and the river flow is rated class 3 (swift moving water). Recent weather conditions can affect the river flow and level. Average time on the river is 90 minutes.
As you enter the deeper sections of the river, you can jump into the refreshing water for a chance to swim and admire the natural beauty of your surroundings. The river currents carry your raft over one final cascade as you pass under an old colonial stone bridge and head towards the Caribbean Sea where your raft ride will end.
After reaching the Caribbean, your guide will lead you to the private beach where you will have approximately 30 minutes of free time to swim, sunbathe, or purchase a refreshment from the beach bar.
Returning to the Montego Bay area, you will have a driving orientation along the "hip strip" of Montego Bay, the most popular area with visitors.
