The Window Cave Adventure, better known as the Cueva Ventana Tour, is sure to leave you with lasting impressions of Puerto Rico. Situated atop a limestone cliff overlooking the Rio Grande de Arecibo valley, the cave provides a stunningly majestic panoramic view from the valley to the sea.
A A 20-minute low-impact and highly entertaining educational hike take you to the mouth of the cave. Along the way, the bilingual environmental interpreters will introduce the ancient Taino culture, the indigenous peoples of the Caribbean, and the unique flora and fauna native to northern Puerto Rico.
Upon entering the karst cave of Cueva Ventana and turning on your flashlights, you will be exposed to different types of cave formations formed from the dissolution of soluble limestone, dolomite, and gypsum rocks, as well as the petroglyphs and stone engravings left behind by the Taino people. You will also be introduced to the cave's local inhabitants including bats, giant harmless spiders, scorpions, and snakes.
