Wailua River and Luau

Experience the best of Kauai with a wonderfully packaged excursion featuring a cruise on the Wailua River followed by one of Hawaii's most celebrated Luau experiences.

The Wailua River, a long, slowly meandering river that starts at the Wai'ale'ale Crater while being fed by many tributaries on the way to the ocean, is the only navigable river in Hawaii. For a unique Hawaiian adventure, try this cruise up river to the sacred Fern Grotto, a lava rock grotto covered with tropical ferns. Hawaiian musicians will serenade you at the grotto with traditional, local songs and take pleasure in learning the hula from a young hula dancer.

The Kauai tour usually takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes on a long, flat-bottom riverboat. While en route, you're likely to encounter kayakers, motorboats and water skiers. Watch for photo opportunities featuring tropical grasslands lining the river, and the majestic cloud-cover Mt. Waialeale in the background. You will also enjoy the overlook at Opaekaa Falls, another romantic stop that will surely secure your love of this Garden Island.

Following your day tour, you will be transported to a location for a memorable Luau experience, featuring the best of traditional Hawaiian dishes and local favorites, as well as entertainment highlighting Polynesian culture. The Luau honors the traditions of Polynesia, and includes a delicious dinner with a wide variety of local delicacies, desserts, and cocktails. Following the feast, guests are treated to the lyrical sway of the Hawaiian Hula and the fiery emotion of the Samoan fire knife dance.
