During this very special and scenic tour you will be escorted to a variety of Swedish churches by a local driver/guide who is also a medieval church history expert.

First journey outside of Stockholm to Taby church, a plain 13th century building with a secret. The building may seem simple and unoriginal from the outside with a white exterior, but step inside and be greeted by colorful walls and ceilings painted by noted local artist Albertus Pictor.

Inside the 12th century granite Vallentuna Church you will find rune carvings made by stone cutters who carved their names in runes while the church was being built. The Abybergskyrkan church will give you a good example of modern church construction.

Over in Vada you will see the quaint medieval church that served this important trade city. The Osseby church was built in the 1200s and today its stone ruins are the perfect setting for many concerts, baptisms and marriages.

Throughout this cultural and educational tour your knowledgeable guide will share how the Swedish parishioners struggled to form their communities in the 1800s and how their resulting oppression was a notable factor in a third of the Swedish migrations to America.

This short yet comprehensive half-day, small group tour has something for every church lover as well as architectural buffs. Experience a different side of Swedish history when you sign up today, don't miss out as space is very limited.
