Super Island Tour
Super Island Tour
See why St. Kitts is praised for its nature and history on this island adventure. From the Botanical Gardens to church architecture and sugar plantations, you'll be immersed in beautiful St. Kitts. Travelers seeking a wide array of sights enjoy this scenic West Indies excursion.
You will set off from the port with your tour guide and other guests for a 20-25 minute scenic drive to Basseterre, the capital of St. Kitts. Along the way, you will pass the National Museum, the Berkeley Memorial, and Independence Square (formerly Pall Mall Square) while listening to your guide explain the island's complex history. Since 1750, Independence Square was the center of government and business. In fact, as you will hear, African slaves were housed nearby and traded in the square until it was outlawed in the 19th-century. Thereafter, you'll head off to the coast for the Carving of De Rocks, but not before passing some of the other historic city's prime landmarks, including the city's many churches.
Tropical St. Kitts has had a dangerous history, well-deserving of its current peace. On your route to the Carving of De Rocks, you will pass the War Memorial, dedicated to remembering those servicemen who gave their lives in the World Wars. You will also see more St. Kitts sights on your tour, including the Bird's Nest, the Bloody Point, and Old Ruins Plantation. Your guide will explain the incredible significance of each of these landmarks.
Next on your St. Kitts excursion, head through the lush rainforest, more than a quarter of the land mass to pass by the sugar plantations, previously farmed by slaves for two centuries, and on to the beautiful Botanical Garden and Romney Manor, a 17th century sugar plantation. There you will find Caribelle Batik (entrance fee included in tour price), which produces high-quality crafts made in the traditional batik style for you to admire or purchase as a souvenir. The Botanical Garden, Romney Manor, and Caribelle Batik are all located near to each other, therefore you will be able to walk around and explore the area for about a half hour before setting off to Timothy Hill.
Timothy Hill is the last stop on this tour where you will visit the South East Peninsula, where the Atlantic and Caribbean Sea meet. Have your cameras handy, as this is a sight to capture before heading back to your ship!
Please note: This tour includes the entrance fee needed for Caribelle Batik. This tour does NOT visit Brimstone Hill Fortress or the historic Black Rocks on the island. If you would like to take a tour that includes the fortress and Black Rocks, please see check out our other great St. Kitts tour by clicking here.
Please Note: Wheelchairs may be accommodated with advance notice for an additional fee of $25 US (not included), which is paid directly to the local representative before the tour departs.
