Kayaking Day Trip to Roseau River from Marigot Bay
Marigot Bay has been photographed so many times that first-time tourists often experience a jolt of recognition. This is not surprising, as this peaceful landscape of swaying palms and sparkling clear water also caught the eye of filmmakers who used the Bay as a location for the filming of the original Dr. Dolittle in 1967, starring Rex Harrison. In this kayaking excursion from Marigot Bay to Roseau River, you'll see why.
After being transferred from the cruise pier area to the dive shop, you will fill out the required waivers. You will then be introduced to your kayaking guide and briefed on the safety equipment and technique of kayaking for 20-30 minutes. You will then enter the water and take a few practice strokes before setting out on this St. Lucia excursion.
Paddling from Marigot Bay, you will kayak out to the open sea and follow the west coast for approximately 20 minutes to the Roseau River. Once in the river, you will travel along a lagoon and canopied mangroves nestled with birds. From the lagoon you go upstream for a short distance then turn back toward the sea. This section is roughly half an hour. From here, it is back to Marigot. En route to and from the river are a number of sites that can be used for snorkeling, water conditions permitting.
This St. Lucia excursion uses expedition touring kayaks and sit-on-top units, all with rudders and storage hatches. This tour comprises a training component especially for the use of the decked units. Tour duration may vary depending on the speed of your group. 4 hours is the average duration.
