Private César Manrique - The Man, the Artist

Discover the works of Cesar Manrique and learn about the man that changed the fate of Lanzarote on your own private guided tour. Cesar had the ability to bring together the feelings and wishes of thousands of Lanzaroteons in pursuit of a better future. His efforts successfully placed Lanzarote in the international tourist scene as one of the most extraordinary sustainable tourist destinations in the world.

With Cesar's art/nature - nature/art proposal and a very real desire for integration with the surrounding natural landscapes, he was able to conquer the art world in Lanzarote. This tour visits the three first public spaces designed by Manrique after getting back from New York.

The first stop is the Cesar Manrique Foundation, an extraordinary house built on top of a lava flow. It was the residence of the artist for many years, a place where nature and architecture coexist in harmony. Next is Jameos del Agua, an underground oasis designed from the interior of a former volcanic tunnel shaped by the La Corona volcano eruption 20,000 years ago. Last is the Monumento al Campesino, a work that carries the most symbolic references to the island and its inhabitants.

Return, along the same scenic route with a better appreciation of the acclaimed artist and his contributions to Lanzarote.
