Playa Dorada Beach Day

Relax and soak up the beach life on Puerto Plata's beautiful north coast and experience Playa Dorada on this half-day excursion.

San Felipe de Puerto Plata is the capital of the Puerto Plata province on the Dominican Republic's Atlantic Coast. The city is best known for its beaches, in particular, Playa Dorada. The old colonial center is home to the 16th-century Fortaleza San Felipe, a Spanish fortress full of Dominican historical and military artifacts.

Upon meeting your local guide, you will embark on a fully narrated tour around the historic district and pier as you make your way to the north coast.

Once you have reached your beach destination you are invited to enjoy a delicious lunch at the beach cafe before strolling the golden sand beach while sipping from a tropical beverage (food and beverage are at an additional cost). You will find a full bar and cafe as well as a service for the beach loungers.

After lunch and a stroll, be sure to wade into the stunning turquoise waters or relax at the water's edge on a complimentary lounge chair all while taking in the natural beauty of the majestic beach surroundings.

Wild wonderful beach.
It was great to see a little of the country side as we made our way to the beach resort. Looked like a lovely resort, we spent our time at the beach unfortunately it eventually rained. The nearest restaurant gave us shelter until our transport back. Would go back.

You should experience this for yourself.
Very nice day with a wonderful guide. All transportation was arranged and very efficient. I definitely would do this again.

The guide remained with us the entire time. He answered questions and made sure we were safe.

Worth the trip in spite of the long walk.
This tour was excellent. Although we had to walk a long way in the stifling heat, the path was very attractive with stone pavement, stores, pools, thatched huts, palm trees, flowers etc. However, at the end of our walk, an air conditioned travel bus was waiting for us. Very Nice! Our tour guides were very nice. The beach was great. Even though there were people at the beach around us, we had our own little private area. An umbrella and beach chair were available at no extra cost. (an amenity that I had taken for granted.) There was a little outdoor restaurant nearby with bathrooms. The beach and the water was nice and clean. The Puerta Playa country club and its golf course made for a very pretty entrance. The tour was well worth it. (Admittedly, I had not even wanted to go to the Dominican Republic since it was so close to Haiti and the fact that DR was "yellow" on the U.S. safety map, I felt totally safe. And PP was completely on the opposite side of the island from Haiti.) The "fruit and rum punch" at the end of the trip consisted of a banana and some punch in a paper cup, it was fun enough.

Dorada Beach Excursion
It was a great excursion. Took us to beautiful beach with umbrellas and chairs included. Restaurant had clean washrooms and food and drinks were available with comfortable seating. Tour guides/driver were friendly and informative.

Really enjoyed the Dominican Republic would love to have stayed longer!!
Ended up with a half day tour of the town before being dropped off at the most beautiful beach for the afternoon.

Our guide Alex was very sweet and funny. The beach was beautiful although there were folks trying to sell us their wares. The food at the restaurant on the beach was a little pricey but, delicious.

Beach review
The excursion team was very courteous, friendly and accommodating. The beach was good and clean, umbrellas and chairs were also good.
