Hawkes Bay Scenic Tour

This tour will allow you to unlock New Zealand's best kept secret - Napier and the greater Hawkes Bay area.

This tour features some of the best scenery in New Zealand, as you drive through mixed farming country. Enjoy sights of sheep, cattle and deer farming, as well as orchards, vineyards, market gardens and much more while on your journey.

Hawkes Bay is noted as the Gourmet Food and Wine region of New Zealand. It is the second largest and oldest wine producing region, producing mainly Bordeaux style wines. You will drive through the most scenic parts of this land on some of the most picturesque roads in New Zealand. Eventually, you will reach Te Mata Peak--the highest peak in the area. This famous location boasts some of the most breathtaking views of the Heretaunga Plains and Hawke's Bay. Your vehicle will take you to a photo stop, located almost towards the top of the peak, where you will be able to take in the majestic view and snap some pictures as we traverse the scenic Hawkes Bay roads.

The tour continues with an informative drive through the main streets of Hastings City. You will hear some of the stories behind New Zealand's largest natural disaster, the 1931 Napier (Hawkes Bay) earthquake, and why the cities of Hastings and Napier were rebuilt in the popular styles of yesteryear.

From Hastings, the tour takes a scenic drive back to Napier to soak up the Art Deco style in and around Napier. You will enjoy a drive through a mostly 1930's Art Deco housing estate. The tour then drives through the Art Deco Capital of the world, Napier City. Here you will see all the world famous Art Deco buildings first hand.

At the conclusion of the tour, you will have the option to do some shopping or just walk the main streets in the central city with your camera before returning to your shuttle. You will also receive a small souvenir to remember your time spent in Napier.

Lovely and Enjoyable Tour in Napier New Zealand 🇳🇿
A wonderful time on the Wine Beer ad Art Deco tour from the Island Princess. A great and knowledgeable guide led us through the lovely art deco streets up to local views and then on to Mission Winery. We finished off with a visit to a brew pub that was quite enjoyable. I wish we could have spent more time but the iIland Princess only had limited shore time in Napier

Guide was excellent. He was the only guide who supplied water for us. He also supplied some fruit since this excursion started around lunch time.

Awesome, personal experience of the Hawkes Bay area outside the port area.
This was a great tour of the Hawkes Bay region. We wanted to explore the area outside the town, and this tour went above our expectations. As it turned out, we were the only ones on the tour so we got an extra-special tour. We saw the beautiful countryside while the driver shaared interesting information about the area as well as his personal experiences. We saw some beautiful views from Te Mata Peak as we meandered through the countryside.

It met all our expectations regarding seeing the area away from the port. We were able to get a personal feel for thie area.

Fun tour of the Napier Region
We really enjoyed the bus tour through and around Napier and the surrounding area. The scenery was beautiful and the information the knowledgeable guide provided along the way was interesting and enlightening, not to mention at times quite funny. We had a great time and wish he were the guide on some of the ship-purchased tours!

Outside of the city of Napier
We'd been to Napier twice before and decided to take a look at the countryside this time. This excursion didn't disappoint with all the things we saw and did outside the city. We had a great guide who knew so much of the history of the area along with the agricultural practices nearby. It was a wonderful way to do something different and yet very worthwhile as Napier has always been my favorite NZ city.

Hawkes Bay
Enjoyed tour of Napier, John very knowledgeable and showed us Art Deco buildings. We like hearing local history. Stop at honey farm was delicious. Te Mata Peak stunning. Very good day to see Hawkes Bay Area.

Great Excursion
Our guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. There were time constraints on our tour due to our ship docking a little later than anticipated but the guide was well aware and made sure we got back to our ship on time.
