Private Discover Cinque Terre
The Cinque Terre are a collection of 5 early, medieval fishing villages that are well renowned for their centuries-old colorful houses and gardens etched into steep terrace cliffs.
Your journey begins as you are picked up from port and driven to the beautiful coastal city of Porto Venere, long considered the gateway to the Cinque Terre villages. Along the way, you will stop at a panoramic spot that offers you the coastline where all 5 villages are lined up together! Grab a photo or two then continue to the introductory village of Riomaggiore.
Walk along the main street of Rio Columbo, pop into some of the shops and restaurants and enjoy a cup of expresso before making your way to the ferry (or train, depending on water conditions) for a scenic ride to the village of Manarola. Upon arrival, you will ascend up the main road flanked by vibrant houses to the square, to the quaint Church of San Lorenzo and the adjacent Oratorio dei disciplinati prayer hall.
From there you will head to Vernazza, the most popular of the Cinque Terre. Observe the 40m tall octagonal tower of the Santa Margherita di Antiochia Church. This gothic style building is said to be located near where the bones of Saint Margaret were discovered. At Doria Castle you can climb up the stairs and be rewarded with breathtaking views of the sea and the city. Walk down to the bastion below and learn how the city fended off multiple pirate attacks. You will also see the tower of Torrione whose building was said to have been the origin of the village's walls.
At Monterosso you can enjoy some local fare such as spaghetti with clams or light, airy focaccia bread. While here visit the Church of San Giovanni Battista and the Oratorio della Confraternita dei neri before your picturesque ride back to port. Sign up today to experience the tranquil villages of Cinque Terre.
Please Note: Your 9-hour private tour covers 3 to 4 of the villages and Porto Venere and the itinerary may change depending on the weather. Vehicles available for this tour accommodate groups of up to 8 passengers maximum. Please take this information into consideration when booking.
