A full-day bus excursion from Naples takes you to the scenic Amalfi Coast of Italy and the archaeological ruins of the ancient Roman town of Pompeii. At the Port of Naples, you will be picked up from your hotel in the heart of Naples or directly outside your cruise ship. Drive down the picturesque Sorrento coast from there, making stops for pictures that capture the expansive vistas. Admire the gorgeous scenery as you continue along the Amalfi Coast. For breathtaking views, pause at a lookout overlooking Positano and its bay. Proceed with the journey and pause at a nearby eatery for a delectable lunch. Head to Amalfi after lunch, where you'll have lots of free time to explore this quaint town.
Next, travel to Pompeii, an archaeological site. Pre-purchased tickets allow you to avoid the lines and save time. Pompeii was a prosperous Roman city until Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, burying it in ash. Explore the residences, shops, pubs, and even a brothel among the excavated ruins while on a guided walking tour of the historic Roman streets. Return to Naples after your trip to Pompeii.
The itinerary for visiting inside the Pompeii ruins might vary based on factors like when specific locations are open and how many visitors are present on the day of your tour. A temple, a market, an old store, a villa, a thermal bath, a theater, and the forum are among the structures you are certain to explore. Every day, the tour operator chooses which buildings to see based on availability, wait times, and crowd sizes.
Additionally, a visit to a Cameo manufacturing facilities is part of the tour. Typically found during the excavations of Herculaneum and Pompeii around 1748, cameos are pieces of jewelry from the Roman era that are handmade by talented artisans using shells and gemstones. You will get the opportunity to observe a craftsman in action while you are at the factory. In addition to being educational, the industrial stop is necessary since it provides access to restrooms before to approaching the Pompeii site.
A minimum of six people are needed for the excursion to proceed in the language that is selected. You can take the tour in English or select an audio-guided tour in your native tongue if the minimum number of participants is not met.
Please Note: The entrance fee for the Pompeii ruins is included in the tour price. Children under 18 years old do not have to pay the entrance fee if they provide a valid photo ID.
The day concluded with a visit to Pompeii, an absolute must-see! Our guide provided a wealth of information and insight as we explored the famous ruins. This tour exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend it!
The drive along the Amalfi coast was awesome. We did an extra boat tour see the coast from the water, excellent experience
The history alone of what occurred was fascinating. A bit of a challenge due to uneven cobblestone streets, but we'll worth the climbs
Our Pompeii tour guide had an extensive knowledge of Pompeii. She struggled a little with her English, but her passion for Pompeii was evident throughout the tour.
