Cesar Manrique Museum

César Manrique was a native of Lanzarote who became part of Spain's contemporary informalist art movement, then lived and exhibited in New York before returning to leave his artistic mark on his homeland. Upon his return, Manrique focused on blending art and nature through his special brand of landscape art at Jameos del Agua, Timanfaya, and more places before his death in 1992.
During this 2.5 hour cultural tour you will travel to the museum, or Volcano House, where Manrique lived and worked. This 2-story house was constructed between 5 giant lava bubbles, with a beautiful, airy top story and a lower story with rooms fashioned out of caves. Walk through the house and note Manrique's personal belongings, the oils in his painter's studio, and view the exhibition of his paintings and other works.
