Full Day Island Tour By Bus, Train, Tram, and Boat
For guests who only have one day to see as much of this charming island as possible, this is a perfect choice. You will take advantage of four modes of transport during the day, coach, train, tram, and boat (weather permitting). Accompanied by an official local guide, you will see and learn about the history and culture of Mallorca.
After picking up guests at the cruise port, you will be transferred to the nearby train station. Here you will board the Ferrocarril de Soller, a wooden train that was first built in 1911 with profits from the very successful orange and lemon trade. This is the original journey and very little has changed in its 100 years of operation. The historic electric train takes a route north through the plains near Palma before climbing through the mountains and 13 tunnels before emerging at Soller
Upon arrival in Soller, you will be transferred to the tramway that runs from Soller down to the seafront, passing through the orange and lemon orchards. You will arrive in Puerto de Soller, where you will board a boat for the motoring cruise along the coast to the town of La Calobra. The journey lasts approximately 40 minutes and you will see spectacular views that cannot be seen from the land.
Upon arrival in La Calobra, you will have free time to relax and enjoy this scenic area surrounded by cliffs on three sides and a protected bay on the forth. There will be time for lunch on your own or to discover one end of the nearby Torrent de Pareis gorge. This spectacular limestone gorge stretches for approximately 4 miles, passing under jagged walls over 600 feet high, and through crevasses that are in some places only a few feet apart. Hiking the gorge is an undertaking that requires at least half a day of climbing up and down, and squeezing through tight openings.
Having arrived in La Calobra by sea, we will depart via the twisting single road from town so that you can get another perspective of this scenic area. You will proceed through the spectacular Sierra Tramuntana mountain range on the way back to Palma. As your vehicle makes its way through the valleys and passes, you will be rewarded with dramatic views of this rugged area around every turn.
Please Note: Depending on your ship's time in port and the train and boat schedule for that day, the tour may operate in a reverse order.
