Mazatlan City Tour
This Mazatlan City tour provides a great overview of Mazatlan and you'll come away appreciating its beauty.
First, you'll drive along the ocean front drive towards the high divers, who dive into water only five feet deep from 45 feet in the air. You'll continue to the top of the lookout hills to have the amazing view of the whole city. On this tour of Mazatlan, your guide will tell you some local folklore as you head to the historical center to see the Angela Peralta Theater, built in the 1870s and now one of Mazatlan's most famous architectural landmarks.
Enough time will be given at the main market to do some souvenir shopping. As you walk through town, you won't be able to miss city hall and the majestic Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Construction on the cathedral began in 1875 and took 42 years to complete. Book this city tour of Mazatlan and see for yourself why they call this beautiful port the Pearl of the Pacific.
Hiking and Snorkeling Combo
Located on the south side of Bahia de Banderas, Colomitos still remains undiscovered by most. This beautiful little cove is a real treasure and well worth the hike to get there. The hike is approximately 2 miles each way. You'll cool off later with a refreshing snorkel at Colomitos Cove.
After traveling by air-conditioned van from the city, you will join your naturalist guide and small group along a hiking path that follows the coastline at the bottom of the Sierras and passes under the canopy of beautiful plumerias, palms and strangling Ficus's. Occasionally, iguanas can be seen running across the path. Inhabiting the lower regions of these mountains, are red foxes, armadillos, skunks, raccoons, and mountain crabs. Along this path, you may see termite nests of impressive size, and the unique and precarious-looking nest of the yellow-winged cacique.
Once at Colomitos Cove, you'll go snorkeling among many colorful tropical fishes found in that area, including King Angels, Panamic Sergeant Majors, some Puffer Fish, Eels, and many other species. Before starting our hike back, you'll enjoy a picnic-style lunch of small sandwiches, snacks and water at the beautiful golden-sand beach.
Please Note: In Puerto Vallarta, the combination of high humidity and the rainy season in July, August, and September creates a distinctive climate. Temperatures may rise above 105F-110F and the humidity varies from 91 - 93% in the summer months making the heat feel more intense. This period is lush and green, but it's also wise to be prepared for sudden rain showers and to stay hydrated in the humid conditions. Please bring extra sunblock, light clothes, a long-sleeved shirt, a hat or cap. The local representative will supply water and electrolytes to avoid a heat stroke during the tour. The port fee is included in the cost of the tour.
