Belize City and Zoo Combo

Get up close and personal with entertaining zoo animals, then visit the main attractions of Belize City including St. John's Cathedral, Government House and the Supreme Court Building.

The fun begins as you step into Belize Zoo's lush 84-acre tropical savanna and discover its unique history. Founded in 1983 as a way to house animals used in documentary films, this national zoo is a popular Belize excursion and has over 150 animals - many of them orphaned, rescued, rehabilitated or received by other zoological institutions. The clean, spacious habitat enclosures allow the animals to live close to their natural environment while allowing you an up-close view of them. You will be introduced to the zoo manager and enjoy a brief introduction to the zoo. Watch spider monkeys at play, note the graceful walk of the deer and compare 21 different types of lizards. Several species of native cats call this zoo home, along with bears, lemurs and a variety of other exotics.

Once in Belize City you will stop at St. John's Cathedral, the first church in colonial Belize. This historical landmark was built in the early 1800s by slaves using the brick ballasts from ships. Take time at the stately Government House to examine the historical exhibits. At the Supreme Court building, look up to see the clock tower. This colonial-style structure was erected in 1926 on the grounds of the original courthouse that was destroyed in a fire several years earlier. While in the city enjoy a traditional Belizean lunch (not included) as you observe the daily life of locals.

Reserve your spot now for this delightful introduction to the animals of Belize and a good overview of Belize City that is sure to be the highlight of your trip.
