Acapulco Walking Tour

Acapulco Walking Tour
Acapulco is a fun and interesting area. This tour will bring you to all the important historical spots while you exercise your legs walking to each location.
Your walking tour begins with a visit to the famous Zocalo. The Zocalo is the traditional town center of early Acapulco, located in Fort San Diego. Zocalo is a great place to snap some pictures while learning about the history of Acapulco, so be sure to bring your camera. Fort of San Diego offers several historical sites, including a neat museum reflecting the trans-Pacific trade of the region. You'll be struck by the 8-ft thick walls containing unique exhibits showing the life of a whole other era.
After your tour around the museum, head to the Hotel La Mision, where you'll learn about the history surrounding this landmark. Wells Fargo once owned and occupied this building, as they were the first of banks in Acapulco. There is interesting information provided at this stop. It's amazing that Wells Fargo was a pioneer in Acapulco!
Make your way to the traditional market, also known as the old Villa de Acapulco. Enjoy live music, ice cream stands, and sidewalk cafes before visiting a fabulous cathedral. The famous Benito Juarez, the creator of the Mexican Constitution of 1857, is fabled to have a home in the area that you get to see as well. This is yet another great stop for photos snapping!
Making your way back to the town center, you'll have time to browse shops filled with everything from silver to tequila. Walking around the Zocalo is perfect for people who want to do some souvenir shopping before heading back to the ship.
