A Taste of Sorrento
After debarking your ship, you will find your driver who will meet you right outside of the cruise terminal. Board your comfortable transportation and start your beautiful, scenic full-day tour to the coast of Sorrento.
As you begin the drive from the port, admire this part of Naples with its "New Castle" and the back of the Royal Palace just beyond. The picturesque drive will not take long as you will be provided with amazing views passing along the bottom of Mt. Vesuvius. The driver will also stop along the way for multiple photo opportunities before arriving to Sorrento.
Before reaching the coastal town of Sorrento, make a stop at a beautiful factory that produces Limoncello, a typical alcoholic digestive of this region of Italy, Campania. At the factory, be provided with stunning views of the coast from a privileged point of view. Take advantage of sampling different Limoncellos and discover what goes in to making this delightful beverage and uncover what happens behind the scenes.
After visiting the factory, you will continue your journey passing the towns of Meta di Sorrento, Piano di Sorrento and Sant' Agnello, before you know it you will have arrived to the center of Sorrento, the driver will make sure to drop you off at the main square (or its closest proximity if you are on a bus), and from there you can start your exploration of the town.
Sorrento is one of the most visited, requested and dreamed of locations in the world and you will soon understand exactly why. Stroll around the narrow streets of the historic center, admiring its architecture, local shops, churches and the public garden with magnificent views of the Bay of Naples.
Explore at your own peace, have an Italian cappuccino or macchiato at the café counter like any true Italian would, and shop around for ceramics or "Intarso" a wood inlaid work truly typical only of the town of Sorrento.
Meet your driver at the designated location and time and be driven to the local sea view farm for your Neapolitan lunch experience. Located approximately 5 minutes away from the town's center, this farm will amaze you for its authentic style, operated by a local family who work together in a traditional old manner.
The area of Sorrento is, among other things, very famous for production of mozzarella cheese, and this farm is no different. Be provided a demonstration in the art of cheese making and witness this "Culinary Art" led by two members of the family, Rosa and Maria. Take in all the sights and smells of this true working farm from the entrance as you walk down to the food area where you will be surrounded by lemon and olive trees, cows and all different plants typical of this part of Mediterranean area. Enjoy a delicious three courses meal, filled with super fresh food "KM 0" meaning literally "from the farm to the table", everything you eat is produced here.
Your entree may consist of mozzarella, salami, prosciutto, olives, and marinated eggplants. Main dish will be pasta with tomatoes and ricotta cheese and, finally, dessert will be homemade lemon cake. Homemade wine and Limoncello is included in your meal and there is the possibility to purchase or ship their products, such as marmalade, Limoncello, etc. Say in Italian "Arrivederci" (see you soon) to the family and make your way back with plenty of time returning to the port of Naples.
