Whale Watch and Salmon Hatchery

Our 6 adult children went trekking on the glacier and left our two grandchildren (ages 7 and 2-1/2 yrs.) with us. We first visited the salmon hatchery where they saw tanks full of lively salmon, some being loaded onto a barge, tanks with tiny hatchlings waiting to be released and visited the displays tanks where we could touch small water creatures. Then we transferred to the whale-watching boat and motored out to the channel to see many whales feeding. The kids were able to see many whales, also sea lions and a pair of eagles on their nest. The trip was exciting for them and commentary was excellent. The 2-1/2 yr. is still talking about going on the boat to see whales. It was a beautiful day and memorable experience for the kids.
