Home » Cruise Excursions in Cabo Mexico: Unveiling the Wonders of Baja’s Coastal Gem
Cabo San Lucas

Located at the southern tip of Baja California, the vibrant city of Cabo San Lucas checks off all the boxes for a fantastic time: beautiful scenery, breathtaking beaches, numerous water activities, incredible cuisine, celebrity sightings, and a sizzling nightlife. Whether you’re seeking adventure or just looking forward to a relaxing beach destination, Cabo’s got you!

Read on for some fun ways to experience the best of Cabo:

For the Thrill Seekers

Cabo is an outdoor lover’s paradise, with many outlets for you to get an adrenaline rush. The warm, clear waters of the Sea of Cortez are perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving, with hundreds of species of tropical fish to gawk at. September and October tend to be the best times to go, when the waters are their most clear, calm, and warm — though anytime is a great time to explore Cabo’s underwater world.

Nature lovers will appreciate the 360 degrees of gorgeous scenery, and will be in awe of the massive whales that migrate down the coast. The area’s zip lines will treat you to birds-eye views of Cabo as you fly along the lines at a heart-stopping 55 mph toward the finish.

Cruise and Snorkel

Snorkeling Cabo San Lucas

If you love the water, this is the tour for you! Board a boat for a one hour cruise along the Golden Coast on the Sea of Cortez, stopping at the Chileno Reef for some snorkeling action. This popular reef will delight you with its abundant sea life as well as spectacular rock and gully formations. The crystal clear waters make this a particularly good spot for newbies and those who want to brush up on their snorkeling skills.

From there you will board the boat for a tour of Cabo’s natural highlights, including the famous Arch, an iconic rock formation that separates the Sea of Cortez from the Pacific Ocean. Grab some Insta-worthy photos of Lover’s Beach, a small beach near the Arch that is only accessible by boat. Pelican Rock will entertain you with its playful sea lion colony and, well, pelicans. Then relax to the music as you make your way back to port. Who knows — you might even spot a whale or two along the way!

Your 70 foot long boat for the day includes two decks, four bathrooms, and plenty of space to spread out. Snorkeling gear is provided, and a bilingual guide will be on hand to help you and share his (or her) knowledge. While on board you will be treated to an open domestic bar as well as a delicious Mexican lunch.

Zip Line Adventure

Zip line Cabo San Lucas 1024x621

Get your adrenaline pumping with this exciting zip line course that takes you through lush canopies, across canyons, and over rock formations! The fun starts with a 45 minute scenic drive from the cruise port where you will approach the zip line course and receive your instructions. Then it’s time to soar along the eight zip lines ranging from 160 to 2,700 feet in length — all under the eyes of watchful staff.

If that wasn’t enough, your circuit will take you from 30 to 300 feet up in the air for breathtaking panoramic views of the desert as well as the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. Best of all, this is the only place on the island where you can actually ride with one to three of your friends! You will have chances to take breaks and enjoy the surroundings on one of the many platforms, and you can always walk back to the main shop at any time should you be on limited time and need to leave the course.

Whale Watching Tour

Whale Watching Cabo San Lucas 1

If crowds are not your thing, consider this intimate whale watching tour; you and up to 13 of your closest — and newfound — friends will take a glass bottom boat tour out to Cabo’s best whale watching spots to see these amazing sea creatures up close.

While on the water you may have the chance to see minke, sperm, Bryde’s, finback, sei, humpback, and/or gray or blue whales, depending on the migration season. Your guides will do their best to make sure you see as many whales as possible, and will share their knowledge with you along the way.

Thanks to the size of this group you will have the opportunity to get right up to the rail and enjoy a front row view. You might even get to see a mom trying to teach her calf how to jump in the water, or watch a whale breach! Orcas, bottlenose dolphins, and giant manta rays are also known to make an appearance.

Foodies’ Paradise

Cabo is a definite foodie paradise, from traditional fare to international cuisine and everything in between! Street food is popular, and there are many casual and high end restaurants to satisfy every palate. Being by the sea, there is a natural abundance of fresh seafood offerings.

Whatever your preferences, try to sample at least one of the more traditional foods while you are here. Shrimp and fish tacos, smoked marlin, and tamales are everywhere. Comida de Pobres is a local favorite with its seafood soup, rice and beans, plus flour tortillas that round out the meal.

Sunset Dinner Cruise

Steak and chicken fajitas

Climb aboard a catamaran for an unforgettable sunset dinner cruise off the coast of the Sea of Cortez. Once on board you can help yourself to the open bar and do a little dancing to get the party started. Later you will sit down to a delicious dinner buffet of mouthwatering food such as mixed salad, Sicilian linguini in pomodoro sauce, barbecued beef, chicken fajitas, refried beans, Mexican salsas, guacamole, and flour and corn tortillas as you watch the sun painting the sky in vibrant hues of red, orange, and blue.

After you’ve had your fill you can sit back and enjoy the sights as you pass by the famous Arch, Lover’s Beach, and Pelican Rock before heading back to your ship.

Craft Beer and the Arts

Craft Beers Cabo San Lucas

Come check out the buzzy little town of San Jose del Cabo with its art galleries, microbreweries, and high-end shops. You will ride out to the town square with its stately Colonial style City Hall, centuries-old mission, boutique shops, and a blossoming Gallery District brimming with artwork just outside of the square.

Get a feel for the city’s culture through the paintings and artisanal goods, then make your way to Baja Brewing Company, a popular pub drawing visitors and locals alike for its live music and cold cervezas. While here, get a quick lesson on the art of beer making from the resident expert brewmaster, followed by three flavorful beer samples and a slice of pizza. Afterward, hit the streets to do a little more exploring — and maybe some shopping? — on your own before your return back to port.

Immerse Yourself in the History

Immerse yourself in the history and culture of “Los Cabos” by visiting one — or both — cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. These cities are about 20 miles apart and connected by the Tourist Corridor, with each city having its own “flavor.” Cabo San Lucas is the party place with the shops, bars, and water activities, while San Jose del Cabo is the quieter cousin full of Mexican charm.

Cabo San Lucas City Tour

Cabo San Lucas Sea Land 1024x621

This tour’s mix of land and sea will give you the best of both worlds! Depart the docks in a glass bottom boat and sail along the Sea of Cortez for unique views of the beautiful city skyline. You’ll pass by The Arch, see Lover’s Beach, and quite possibly some sea lions jumping into the water for fish treats.

Once back on land, you’ll hit the city highlights including the Zocalo, or main square, where you can watch glass blowers do their thing. Just off the square is the Church of San Lucas, built in 1730 by a Spanish missionary; this charming church still looks very much like it did in the early days, outside of periodic restoration.

Conclude your time in the city with a lesson in tequila making, complete with a complimentary tequila tasting. Made from the agave plant, tequila is Mexico’s national drink, with deep roots going back to the Aztecs.

Highlights of Los Cabos

Your landmark tour will start with a ride out to a prominent overlook for stunning panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez, followed by a visit at San Jose del Cabo’s newest resort community, Puerto Los Cabos, with its luxury yachts and Greg Norman-designed golf course.

Further on down is the historic San Jose del Cabo, a city on the coast that was originally a mission. While here, learn about its colorful past — one filled with pirates, violent Indian uprisings, and the murder of a priest. Continue on to Plaza Mijares, the town’s square with an eclectic mix of shops, eateries, a gazebo, the 300 year old Mision San Jose del Cabo Anuiti, and the colonial style City Hall. During the tour your guide will share the city’s rich history and fun facts, then you will have one hour to explore it at your own pace.
