Private Bandol Country
After you travel from the port in Toulon, see firsthand why this place is often compared to St. Tropez. Your private full-day tour will consist of a comprehensive look at the village of Cassis, its port, and many other natural attractions. You have the option of exploring the area freely or hopping on a 45-minute guided cruise along the commune's main creeks.
This Mediterranean fishing port in southern France is overlooked by a centuries-old château and is known for pebbly beaches and its calanques, narrow inlets framed by steep, limestone cliffs. The harbor features pastel-colored buildings, sidewalk cafes and restaurants. Local vineyards are known for producing Cassis white wine. Trails run along the huge, rocky Cap Canaille headland for panoramic sea views.
Walking down the old village streets you will discover some of the typical Provence soft, pastel colored historic buildings, some dating back to the 16th century. Explore and look for old fountains and the large open-air market held every Wednesday and Saturday all year long.
Aside from exploration, there will be relaxation in multiple forms. If you want to shop until you drop, go right ahead and browse for souvenirs. Learn of the Bandol Wine domain dating from the 13th century, the wealth originally came from its shipping traffic and local wines, then from the export of its cut flowers. Those traditions continue today as the wines of Bandol have become internationally celebrated and the town remains vibrant with plants, shrubs and flowers.
After lunch (not included), this comprehensive tour will make a stop at the small hilltop village of Le Castellet. Admire the architecture, check out the Formula One racetrack and more during your time here.
Once you leave the hilltop village your last stop will be to pay a visit to another medieval village, Evanos. This feudal village dates from the 11th century as is perched oddly on steep inclines. View the old houses that overlook the ruins of a castle as the main street of the village ends up at the foot of the dungeon.
