Wildlife Exploration of Panama's Parks, Lake Gatun, and Indian Village

Our journey begins early, as we depart from Panama City and pass by the impressive Pedro Miguel Locks. We'll follow the route parallel to the famous Culebra Cut of the Panama Canal, moving through parts of the Camino de Cruces National Park before entering the lush Soberania National Park. Recognized globally for its birdwatching prowess—hosting over 500 species in a single day during the Audubon Society’s annual bird count—Soberania is a haven for nature lovers. Keep your cameras ready for sightings of monkeys, sloths, and perhaps even the majestic Harpy Eagle.

Next, we make our way to the Gamboa Public Dock on the Chagres River, where a small boat awaits to take us into the main channel of the Panama Canal. This segment of the tour allows for an up-close view of the colossal ships navigating the canal and a two-hour eco-tour around Lake Gatun. Here, we explore hidden bays and the famous 'Monkey Island' in search of diverse wildlife. The adventure continues as we travel up the Chagres River to an authentic indigenous village. During our visit, you'll gain insight into the community's history, traditions, art, music, and dance. Opt for a guided walk through the rainforest to learn about native plants and their uses, or spend your time engaging with the locals and exploring their crafts. Keep in mind, that rainforest conditions can vary, and trails may be slippery if it rains.

As we return to the city, we'll stop for a lunch break before concluding the tour. While lunch is not included, this break offers a great opportunity to taste local cuisine. For those interested, there's an option to be dropped off at the Miraflores Locks visitor center instead of the hotel for further exploration. Join us for unforgettable memories of Panama’s wildlife and culture on this popular adventure from the port of Panama City. Book now to secure your spot.
