Zip, Waterfall and Horseback Riding
Not all zip lines are created equal, and we have special access to the highly acclaimed "Walk the Plank" zip line, considered to be the best zip line in Samana. After a brief orientation, you will board your safari truck and drive to the zip line, approximately 30 minutes away.
The first run of 12 total lines is over 1000 feet long and takes off from a pirate ship more than 350 feet up a hillside. You will fly above the Lulu Waterfall as you cover 7000 feet of line. The zip is made up of the highest-quality equipment on a three-cable zip line system. You will be fastened in with a double harness that has two cams running along two of the cables overhead. The integrated braking system allows you to have fun without worrying about reaching up to grab the cable to slow yourself down, as you have to do on some other zip lines. There are staff members on-hand to do tandem rides if you are nervous.
After your high-flying zip, you will ride the horses to the Zumbador Waterfalls. Enjoy approximately 20 minutes of free time at Zumbador Waterfalls to take a quick swim, jump from the rocks above into the water, or just sit and enjoy the setting. Dry off and walk through the jungle for approximately 10 minutes to reach the waiting horses.
After mounting your horse, you will set off on a trail along the river and through the countryside to a beach which is about 30-45 minutes away. The terrain for the ride is predominantly flat, and you may cross the river if the water level allows. Upon arrival at the beach, try running your horse on the sand (swimming with the horses is not permitted).
Enjoy this semi-secluded natural beach, where you can take in stunning views of the mountains diving into the ocean. Although the beach is not safe for swimming, the views of its natural beauty are not to be missed. Next, you will have the option to ride your horse (approximately 15 minutes) to a local co-op where you will be treated to a cultural presentation by some of the locals. Enjoy some water and soda, and perhaps some locally produced moonshine as well. Following the presentation, all guests will board the safari bus and be driven back to the port.
Please Note: Most of the roads traveled on this tour are paved, but bumps are to be expected.
