Waiheke Island Explorer

In the heart of Auckland's sparkling Hauraki Gulf, Waiheke Island is a picturesque blend of farmland, forest, beaches, vineyards, and olive groves. Waiheke is just a picturesque 35 to 45-minute ferry ride from downtown Auckland, and has an international reputation for food and arts.

To begin your Waiheke excursion, you'll cruise to Waiheke through the glorious Hauraki Gulf and board a double-decker bus for a hop-on, hop-off tour that will offer you a taste of the people, culture, and history that make up the diverse island of Waiheke.

Waiheke Island has become known as New Zealand's "island of wine," home to a dedicated group of winegrowers who have successfully matched the maritime climate and ancient soil structures to the selection of classical grape varieties to produce red and white wines with distinctive varietal character.

Hop on and off as much as you like at any of its convenient stops, which include vineyards, beaches, and restaurants. If you prefer, stay on board and enjoy the scenic tour of the island.

The double-decker buses stop at some of the island's iconic spots, including Mudbrick Vineyard, Cable Bay Vineyard, Allpress, Waiheke Community Art Gallery, Oneroa Village, Goldie and Kennedy Point Vineyards, and more.

The knowledgeable tour drivers and the on-board host ensure you'll receive the most informative commentary as you travel around and you can get all the local tips and tricks for how best to enjoy Waiheke!
