Xcambo is an archaeological site considered by experts to be one of the largest pre-Hispanic settlements in the Peninsula. Xcambo's primary function was to provide salt for the Mayan empire, reaching its peak development during the 250 and 600 AD; salt is still being produced in this place today.
Xcambo was also known for craft production, and trade was commonplace in the city. Your English-speaking guide will introduce numerous structures, while providing background information and local lore as you explore. Surrounding a large central plaza are ceremonial sites, small pyramids, and platforms including the Temple of the Cross, the Temple of Sacrifices, and the Pyramid of the Masks. Your guided tour and personal exploration will last for 90-minutes before heading off for a 2-hour beach break and a visit to the TechnoHotel. While visiting the beachfront hotel, you will have access to all its amenities, including the pool and poolside bar, luxurious beach chairs, umbrellas, palapas, and showers.
