Pigeon Island Nature Tour with Marigot Bay Kayaking
Pigeon Island & Marigot Bay Kayaking Excursion
Kayaking the sheltered waters at Marigot Bay is a perfect introduction for the inexperienced paddler. Enjoy the serenity of nature on this adventurous St. Lucia excursion.
Relax and take in the sights as you travel approximately 45 minutes to Pigeon Island. Once you arrive, you will be given approximately one hour to hike, swim, discover breathtaking scenery, or just relax on the beach. Pigeon Island is a 40-acre islet connected by a causeway to St. Lucia's west coast. It is a beautiful nature park that reflects a thousand years of history. There are marked trails with several historical sites, like the remains of an 18th-century British fort, as well as Fort Rodney, where the admiral for which it is named spied on the French ships from its strategic viewpoint. The island also has two secluded beaches and is the major venue of St. Lucia's annual Jazz Festival.
Once you have finished exploring Pigeon Island, you will be transported to Marigot Bay by taxi. You will then head to the outfitting center, where you will be introduced to the kayaking guide and briefed on the safety equipment and paddling techniques. Once you have been outfitted and have stored your belongings, you will be guided to the beach and assigned a kayak.
Marigot Bay is picturesque, with mangroves and tropical plants bordering the coastline. While kayaking, you will see hotels, bars, restaurants, and even a mega-yacht harbor. The calm, confined waters of Marigot Bay is the perfect setting for all paddlers to relax and enjoy the views.
Once you have returned to shore, you will have a few minutes to gather your belongings, change clothes, freshen up, and take in one last glimpse of paradise. You will then travel approximately one hour back to your cruise ship terminal.
Please Note: This tour uses expedition touring kayaks and sit-on-top units, all with rudders and storage hatches. This tour comprises a training component especially for the use of the decked units.
