Anne Frank and Jewish Amsterdam Tour

This afternoon city orientation drive will give you a feel for the city as well as a visit to the Ann Frank House.

Your first stop will be at a diamond factory. You will enjoy a tour of the factory and a demonstration detailing how diamonds are still polished in the traditional way.

Next you will take a ten minute stroll to the Portuguese Synagogue, where you will be able to view the seventeenth-century interior that has remained intact over the years. After your visit at the Synagogue, you will continue on to the Jewish Historical Museum. You will be submerged in Jewish culture and history, specifically of the Jewish people of the Netherlands.

Perhaps the highlight of the tour, although it is a somber location, is the visit to the Ann Frank House museum located in the same building where, on June 12, 1942 Anne Frank celebrated her thirteenth birthday. Her favorite present was a diary she had picked out at the bookshop around the corner on the Merwedeplein square. A few weeks later, Anne, her diary and family went into hiding in the 'secret annex' at her father's business, where they would remain for more than two years until they were arrested in August of 1944.

Tickets to the Ann Frank House are on a limited basis so please book early to avoid disappointment.
